TO BE IN FRONT OF A VERB

Something very important that we have to remember, is that when we use "TO" as a preposition and it goes before a verb, that verb usually ends in -ING. These are some of the most common expressions followed by a verb ending in -ING:

  • In addition TO-
  • Object TO-
  • Oppose TO-
  • Prefer doing something TO doing another thing-
  • Be used TO-
  • Look forward TO-
  • Get around TO-

Did not it become clear to you? Review the following examples of these expressions in simple sentences:

  • In addition TO cleaning the room, I made the bed.
  • Susana objects TO goING home.
  • Pedro opposed TO signING the contract. .
  • She prefers dancing TO running. .
  • I’m not used TO sleepING so many hours.
  • I’m looking forward TO seeING to you again. .
  • I’ll get around TO studyING after the party.

TO at the end of a sentence

Sometimes, TO appears at the end of a question.

For example:

  • Where are you travelling TO?
  • Who are you talking TO?
